A timeless, elegant piece by Morty Sussman for Mollie Parnis, great for work, cocktails,
dinner, or party. Reflects the wearable, yet feminine, sense Parnis, whose fashions
were worn by several first ladies (including Mamie Eisenhower), brought to her work.
Circa 1973/74, this is reminiscent of Diane Von Furstenberg's iconic wrap dress of
the same era. A rich, luscious raspberry pink silk that drapes beautifully, especially
over the hip area, with its a small swag falling softly to the tulip hemline. True
wrap styling, with inner hook and eye closures on each side and a snap in the middle
to keep the neckline from falling open. Also has lightly gathered, seamed waist,
narrow kimono-
Condition: Excellent, has been professionally dry cleaned. There’s one all but invisible, tiny pinprick at the neckline where possibly someone pinned a brooch.
Size: Labeled size 12, but runs smaller. Estimated size medium (8 to 10). Bodice is meant to be slightly loose and bloused a bit, so there's some flexibility in the fit through that area. The waist can be let our or taken in a little by moving the hooks & eyes and the snap. Please use garment dimensions below and your actual measurements to determine fit:

This is "new old stock" and had its original tags. However, the clerk at the antique shop cut them off along with the resale price tag. I saved part of it and will include with the dress (although it's faded from age). It’s labeled “Lady Ethel.”
Fabric: Dacron polyester/cotton; permapress
Size: Approx. a large medium to a small large (10 to 12). Shown unpinned on a size large dress form that measures 39 1/2" x 30" x 40". Because this is NOT a stretch fabric, please leave at least 2" to 3" over your body measurements for movement and comfort.
Dress "measures out" a little bit larger than it really fits, as the hip dimension is smaller than the bust. Please go by the dimensions below!
Bust: 42 1/2", max (accounting for ease); Waist: 38" 1/2"; Hip: 41" ; Shoulder to Shoulder: 16 1/8"

†Adele Simpson started her design career at Ben Gershal in 1927. Her sister was employed
there, and Gershal hired Adele after asking her sister about who made her dresses.
In 1942 she went to work at Mary Lee, where by 1944, she worked under her own name.
She purchased the company in 1949 and re-
Her husband, Wesley Simpson, designed many of the fabrics Adele used in her early designs. She was known for her usage of fabrics, and for her practical, wearable designs (as evidenced by this dress).
Simpson was known throughout the 1970s and 1980s for chemise dresses and shirtwaists. After she retired in the early 1980s, the company was run by her daughter, Joan Simpson Raines.

We love †Mr. Dino prints, but find some of them a tad “much” for regular wear. This
one, however, is a very wearable style and size. Wear it all season–to parties, dinner
or lunch, on vacation.... Keep it casual or dress it up! Features a quintessential

† Mr. Dino’s real name was Max Cohen. He started designing in the late fifties, adopting
the “Mr. Dino” label because his wife was a big fan of Dean Martin’s. Often compared
to Emilio Pucci, he was known for his unique designs and designed each print himself.
